Introduction to the PGTA Primary

About the session
Your first induction session will be an introduction to the PGTA team, and an introduction to the course. We'll share an outline of the course with you and give you a flavour of what to expect on the year you'll be studying with us. During the course of the day, you'll receive input from:
- Student services and Wellbeing
- The Hub at the Library
- Digital Learning
- The Student Union
You'll also have some key introductory sessions for the course including:
- Introduction to Partnerships
In this session, you'll get an overview of what your school experience will look like, and what to expect from your placements.
- Introduction to Professional Studies – the Role of the Teacher
In this session, trainees will be introduced to the 'spine' of the curriculum: Professional Studies. You'll learn about the role of the teacher, and begin to explore what that will mean for you as your career develops.
- Introduction to Masters
In this session, you'll learn about the content of the Masters portion of the course, consider what M-level writing is, and consider what being a reflective practitioner means.
- Tutor groups
For the final session of the day, you'll be split up into your tutor groups where you will meet the trainees you'll be in lectures with, as well as your personal tutor.

Your Welcome Week timetable
Try some of the welcome activities and socials on campus during 14-18 September. From fitness to freebies, they're great ways to settle into university life.

Tuesday 15 September

Wednesday 16 September
- 1:30-3pm - Faculty induction: Education (G7) and Arts (Waldegrave Drawing Room) only
- 1:30-3pm - Faculty team building activity: Business, Law and Theology only (The 1850)
- 3-4:30pm - Faculty induction: Business, Law (G7) and Theology (N44) only
- 3-4:30pm - Faculty team building activity: Education and Arts only
- 4:30-6pm - Faculty social: Faculty of Arts, Business, Law, Education and Theology (1850 Bar)

These are a warm welcome and introduction to different faces you’ll see at the university, plus essential info about support services, health and safety, the code of conduct, and ID cards.
Complete the two mandatory Learning Modules online
