Group members Paul Hough and Freddie Brown recently presented some of their work at the British Association of Sport & Exercise Conference in Harrogate.

Paul presented “A case study on the effects of a three-week restricted carbohydrate diet on exercise metabolism and performance of three cyclists” whilst Freddie presented work from his PhD “Custom fitted compression garments provide more consistent pressures and enhance recovery from muscle damage in rugby players” 

Also presenting on the day where two of Dr Patterson’s former dissertation students on the MSc in Strength & Conditioning programme. Ben Thorne presented his work on “The Internal & External Load differences between part and full time Elite Academy football players” and Dan Orwin presented his study on “The effects of Ischemic Post Conditioning on recovery from exercise: A time course study”. Alongside this another study Dr Patterson was involved with in collaboration with the British military was also presented. The study investigated the effect of blood flow restriction training during rehabilitation in injured soldiers and was recently published in Frontiers in Physiology. Well done to all involved.
