St Mary’s School of Education is privileged to have education experts from a wide range of fields.

Our colleagues combine cutting-edge theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical expertise. The wealth of knowledge we have as a resource allows us to deliver flexible CPD training to suit your specific needs in your school setting.

We are also able to host whole school training days and other CPD events in collaboration with our Conferencing and Events team. This includes the option of keynote talks and/or workshops from educational experts within the School of Education.

Bespoke CPD for Schools & Trusts

The primary physical education (PE) team at St Mary’s University can offer support with the following aspects of teaching and learning within PPE.

  • Planning and teaching PE lessons
  • Guidance on how to effectively use the PE and sport premium
  • Being Ofsted ready
  • Assessment of teaching and learning within PE
  • Inclusivity and differentiation within PE
  • Improving subject knowledge and teaching skills in specific activities (Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Games, OAA)
  • New healthy school CPD certified course: PogoPulse (March 2020)

Courses can be held on site at St Mary’s University or can be delivered in your own school or group of schools.

Primary Science CPD and Accreditation

At St Mary’s University, we are fortunate to have a team of accredited lead facilitators of STEM CPD and trained Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) leaders. The primary science team can therefore offer a range of opportunities to support your school and teachers with leadership and teaching and learning development in this area.

PSQM hub

Join our St Mary’s PSQM hub to gain accreditation for your school. PSQM is excellent value for money compared to other CPD programmes, supporting leadership skills and pedagogical development in primary science education. You will become part of a collaborative network of primary science leaders, sharing effective practice.

You will have the opportunity to obtain ASE discounted membership and a golden ticket to for your team to go the the ASE annual science conference.

Working scientifically workshops

We work closely with the National STEM centre to deliver workshops on all areas of working scientifically and progress of skills. If you would like staff training in these areas, we can lead inset training.

Standing on the shoulders of giants

In relation to our recent publication, we also hold training to support the integration of a framework to integrate famous scientists into your science curriculum.
