Dr Nicola Brown at St Mary's University, Twickenham (SMU) recently filmed with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for some exciting new content to complement the RFU's existing Women and Girls Health and Wellbeing resources.

These resources cover aspects of health that female rugby athletes and their coaches should consider when planning to participate in rugby-related activity, including menstrual health, pelvic health, breast health, puberty, and menopause.

Dr Brown's research focuses on breast health in sport, particularly the impact of breast support on performance, comfort, and injury risk in female athletes. She has been involved in breast and bra education programmes for various sports organisations, including rugby, football, and golf, helping to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate breast support for female athletes.

Reflecting on her involvement with the RFU, Dr Brown said, "It’s fantastic to see the RFU recognising the importance of breast health and women’s health more broadly. Raising awareness and providing education in these areas can have a huge impact on female athletes' comfort, confidence, and performance in sport."
