Renewing Spiritual Capital in Schools: Conceptual Clarifications and Empirical Investigations
Academic: Dr John Lydon
This project will explore the extent to which spiritual capital is a critical issue for contemporary Catholic schools and it will consider ways in which such capital may be strengthened within Catholic school communities.
The project consists of two parts. In Part 1, various conceptual clarifications will be made of the central concept, 'spiritual capital' and these will be compared with related concepts such as culture, ethos, charism and theological literacy.
In Part 2, an empirical investigation will be undertaken to attempt to assess the extent to which the building of spiritual capital among teachers contributes to improvements in student learning experiences.
