The French Intermediate language and conversation course is designed for you if you already have a good knowledge of basic French.
Whilst enrolled upon the course you will develop your language skills through a range of engaging topics enabling you to express your opinions and converse with others in French.
Please note: this course is not suitable for international students requiring a short term student visitor visa.
Intermediate 1 and 2
We offer an October (Intermediate 1) course and a February (Intermediate 2) course.
You must do the October course before you can take the February one.
The February course is a natural progression of the October one, and will allow you to continue to develop your skills and build upon your learnings from it.
Dates and times
The courses run on Wednesday evenings from 5.30-7pm.
Intermediate 1 runs from 8th October 2025 to 4th February 2026.
Intermediate 2 runs from 25th February to 24th June 2026.
Location
The courses are held at our Main Campus, Twickenham.
Price
The full cost of each course is £255.

Content
During the course, you will study the following topics, to build upon your knowledge of everyday language:
- day-to-day life
- healthy living
- free time
- making arrangements
- our world
- holidays and travel
- film and tv.
Requirements
To join the course a good pre-existing knowledge of basic conversational French is required.
All participants must be over 18 years of age to enrol.
Award
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by St Mary’s University.
