Biography

Carolina joined St. Mary`s as a Post-Doctorate Researcher in August 2022, developing a project in partnership with FIFA aiming to translate scientific evidence into actionable global policy in women’s football.

Carolina holds a dual degree PhD in Sport and Exercise Science, specifically looking at post-training recovery profiles in futsal (UFMG - Brazil and University of Technology Sydney - Australia, 2019); a masters’ degree on Sport Sciences looking at training load monitoring (UFMG, 2016); and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.

Carolina developed academic career while working in high-performance sports' organization. More recently (2018-2022) worked as head of performance at Flamengo (Brazil), coordinating strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, and sport science services for Olympic sports’ athletes from academy to professional level.

Carolina has previous experience as a field sport scientist for different sports in national and international level.
