Biography

Rubina is a Business Management lecturer, having joined St. Mary’s in 2013. Her primary lecturing responsibilities are on the ‘Research Methods’ modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Rubina’s research interests are centred around the service sector, Tourism and Hospitality development, sustainability, and innovation, as well as on Diasporas and Mobilities. She has been a consultant with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality for over a decade. She was also an external examiner for Manchester Metropolitan University, between 2017 and 2019, and worked as an associate lecturer and assessor at the University of Sunderland in London, Anglia Ruskin University and BPP University.

Rubina has a degree in International Relations from the Universidade de Lisboa, and an MA in Tourism Management from the University of Westminster. In 2022, she concluded a PhD at Edinburgh Napier University on ‘Tourism, Diaspora, and Mobilities’.
