His teaching duties include the development of trainee teachers’ subject knowledge, visiting trainees on school placements and developing school teachers’ MA research projects on the Leading Innovation and Change programme.

James also co-ordinates a project with St Mary’s University International Office and the Malaysian Ministry of Education to train science and mathematics teachers for the matriculation programme in Malaysia. This project, which is in its third year, has involved visits to colleges in Malaysia to assess the needs of newly qualified teachers and pedagogy of the matriculation system.
