Degree studied: Media Arts & Tourism

The work placement module in my final year helped me with my academic career as well as my personal and professional development. Previously I did not know what path I wanted to take after university, the module helped me boost my confidence and communication skills which led to me finding a suitable placement in a Marketing environment that I thoroughly enjoyed and was able to continue working in after graduation.

There is no doubt I would not have been able to get there without the help of the Centre for Workplace Learning who were extremely helpful and made themselves available whenever I needed help or advice. I would recommend the module to anyone whether you know what career you want to pursue or not. It is a great way to gain relative experience for your degree.

Alternatively, you can use it as a taster to see whether you would enjoy working in certain roles with CWLs extensive links with different businesses in different sectors. Workplacement modules are a great idea as students get a chance to put theory into practice whilst at all times building a portfolio of vital experience which is an equally as important factor in boosting your employability as is obtaining a good degree in today’s society.
