Doing the Work Placement module was one of the best things I did at university. It forced me to go out and explore what did and didn't interest me while having the university as a safety net. Before choosing the module, I didn't realise how hard it would be to find paid work in film or TV. But getting industry experience and/or networking makes things so much easier. Without doing the Work Placement module I don't think I would be where I am today.

I was able to secure work experience a couple weeks before I started my third year. Through the network I built during that experience, I was able to secure part-time paid employment before even graduating. I was fortunate enough to go full-time after graduating.

I've now been at Sky Sports since January 2013, and with a bit of hard work, networking and initiative, have been able to progress to see different parts of the business from logging content to live production, to digital and social media.
