The Athena Swan Charter is a gender equality charter aiming to address inequalities and improve experiences of staff and students irrelevant of their gender. We have joined nearly 200 Athena Swan members in the UK's HE sector who also hold the award.
In April 2023, St Mary's was awarded the Bronze Athena Swan Award, recognising the University's efforts towards addressing gender inequality in Higher Education. Under the leadership of Ruth Thompson and Jamie North, the newly formed Gender Equality Steering Group (GESG) will take ownership of implementing the Athena Swan Action Plan in 2023/24.
