Learning Design Service

The Learning Design service provides advice, guidance and support to the St Mary’s academic community in the creation of outstanding online learning opportunities for students. Our aim is to help you get the most out of St Mary’s learning platforms.

What is the service and how we can help?

Following an initial consultation with your Learning Designer, the service will provide:

  • 1:1 support with a Learning Designer
  • Co-designed examples of online learning for use with your students
  • Bespoke training that will develop your digital capabilities
  • Improve the design layout of online modules
  • Translate content through technological mediums
  • Analyse opportunities for using St. Mary’s online platforms
  • Support the creation of online student communities
  • Mapping pedagogical theories onto digital opportunities in teaching and learning
  • Developing models to support student-centred learning

Our Learning Design team is made up of experienced Learning Designers and Learning Technologists who have a broad background in teaching and the application of online pedagogies. During this process, your Learning Designer will help you:

  • Increase student engagement
  • Promote active learning in synchronous and asynchronous activities
  • Foster collaborative learning environments
  • Become part of a wider staff community of sharing best practice
