Power BI or E-Vision which should I use for data?

At St Mary’s we have two platforms that we use for providing data to staff. Each has a distinct role:

E-Vision

The E-Vision platform is part of the student record system (SITS). It is browser-based, and access is linked to your SITS account. Its primary use is for providing detailed student data. This may contain information down to the individual student level, such as name, email address, gender ethnicity etc. Such personal data is restricted, so access to specific reports will only be given to those who require the information to do their job. An example of this might be a class lists, or lists of applicants for a particular course. At the moment E-Vision also contains some more general reports, but over time these will move to Power BI.

Power BI

The Power BI reporting platform does not require a SITS account to access, but you do need a Power BI license (see below). Power BI reports at St Mary’s do not usually contain any personal student data, but instead provide top-level strategic numbers, such as the application numbers dashboard, enrolment numbers and historic data reports. Like E-Vision, Power BI is browser-based and can be accessed using your everyday St Mary’s Login, if you have a Power BI license.

How do I get access to both E-Vision and Power BI?

For both platforms please contact The Hub Online outlining which reports you require access to.
