Anatomy Physiology and Pathology (ITEC)

The Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (ITEC, QCF) provides a thorough foundation of anatomy, physiology and pathology, which is a pre-requisite for a number of courses. The course is designed for those who are interested in studying the body and how it functions. 

Dates and times

This is a part-time course with 17 sessions that run once a week over a five month period.

September 2025

Each day of the course will run from 9.30am-12.30pm and you can choose from Sunday or Wednesday date options.

  • Sunday course sessions will run 21st September 2025 - 1st February 2026.
  • Wednesday course sessions will run 24th September 2025 - 4th January 2026.

February 2026

Each day of the course will run from 9.30am-12.30pm and you can choose from Saturday or Wednesday date options.

  • Saturday course sessions will run 28th February - 11th July 2026.
  • Wednesday course sessions will run 25th February - 8th July 2026. 

The examination date will be an additional day approximately two to three weeks after the last day of the course. Once agreed with the external provider you will be notified by email.

We also offer an Intensive Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology course which is full-time, Monday to Friday, between 9.30am-12.30pm, and runs over three-weeks:

  • 2nd June 2025
  • 16th June 2025
  • 30th June 2025.

Location

This course will be held at our 60 Waldegrave Road Campus.

Price

The full cost is £675. The deposit cost is £50.

Content

Whilst enrolled upon the course you will study human anatomy, physiology and pathology, which encompasses:

  • body systems including skeletal, muscular, circulatory and lymphatic, neurological, endocrine, urinary and reproductive, respiratory, and digestive
  • histology
  • anatomical planes and positions
  • skin, hair, and nails
  • common pathologies affecting each body system.

You will be taught alongside other students who are enrolled upon the Level 3 Diploma in Massage, Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology.

Assessment

The course will be assessed by the following methods:

  • completion of a multiple choice paper comprising 50 questions
  • a written assignment.

Requirements

To enrol on this course you must be 18 year old or over. It is recommended that you should have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*-C, however, exemptions may be made for adult returners with relevant experience.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded with the Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (ITEC, QCF).
