How to Write a Novel

I want to write a novel!

How do you turn that idea and your dreams of writing a novel into something more substantial and reality?

This course will run from 10am-2pm on the following date:

  • Saturday 29th June 2024.

There will be time for a short lunch break within the course. 


This course will be held at our Main Campus, Twickenham.


The full cost of this course is £70.

In this masterclass, novelist and St Mary’s senior lecturer, Russell Schechter, will introduce some key issues central to thinking about writing a novel, getting you started on your journey as a writer. 

Through a mix of lecture, discussion, and workshop, we will begin to explore planning a piece of long-form fiction, whether you want to be the next JK Rowling or Margaret Atwood.

Bring your novel idea and your passion to the session and throughout the course of the day we will take your ideas and dreams forward to words on the page. 


All participants must be over 18 years of age to enrol.

Please note: this course is not suitable for international students requiring a short term student visitor visa.


Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by St Mary’s University.
