The Lighting Visualiser

This course will introduce you to working with a visualiser system to produce and realise lighting designs. It is a practical course with a focus on how a visualiser can be utilised for theatre and live event design to aid a designer. At the end of the course, you will have a solid practical knowledge of how to use a visualiser set up to aid in your design work, as well as have the skills to trouble-shoot any problems you may incur.

Dates and times

This course will run from 10am-5pm over two days:

  • Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2024.

This course will be held at our Main Campus, Twickenham.

Content

On the first day of this course, you will be introduced to the visualiser and learn when and why you would use it.

You will learn how to:

  • drop in and move objects to set up a venue
  • patching fixtures
  • how to move fixtures and attach them to objects
  • how to change generic fixtures, beam angle, and gel colour.

During day two you will cover

  • setting up colour, focus palettes, and groups
  • theatre cue stacks and live event busking, chases, and FX
  • timecode to track.

Requirements

All participants must be over 18 years of age to enrol.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by St Mary’s University.
