Our learn to lift course is designed to help you build strength, improve your technique, and feel more confident using the gym. Led by experienced coaches who genuinely care about your progress, each session focuses on helping you lift safely, correctly, and with purpose.
We keep our group sizes small to ensure you get plenty of one-on-one attention and personalised support. The close-knit setting also creates a friendly, professional atmosphere where you can connect with others and grow together.
You'll train in our state-of-the-art Performance Education Centre (PEC). A space equipped with top-tier facilities to support your development at every stage.
Course levels
Choose the right strength training course for your goals:
Beginners - introduction to strength training
Ideal for those new to the gym. Learn foundational lifts such as the squat, deadlift, and bench press, with a focus on movement coordination and safe technique. Build confidence and introduce strength training into your routine.
Intermediate lifters - strength progression
Perfect if you’ve completed the beginners course or have some gym experience. Develop your technique, explore lift variations, and progress your strength training with expert guidance.
Advanced olympic weightlifting - elite strength training
Designed for experienced lifters. Learn and refine advanced Olympic lifts including the snatch and clean and jerk, with a focus on power, precision and performance.
Dates and times
Each course runs for 10 weeks, with 1-hour sessions every Wednesday evening:
- Beginners 6-7pm
- Intermediate Lifters 7-8pm
- Advanced Olympic Weightlifting 8-9pm.

- 15 April - 24 June 2026.
Location
All sessions take place in the Performance Education Centre (PEC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham.
