The e-learning components of the course will cover:

  • applied anatomy and physiology for exercise, health and fitness
  • the principles of nutrition and their application to exercise and health
  • understanding lifestyle, health, wellbeing and common medical conditions
  • encouraging positive health and fitness behaviours in clients
  • professionalism and business acumen for personal trainers.

The face-to-face sessions are delivered over six days and cover:

  • programming personal training with clients
  • delivering personal training sessions.

During these sessions you will also revise the topics you learnt via the e-learning resources.

This course is assessed via:

  • a practical exam
  • a portfolio of evidence including assignments, case studies and worksheets.

As part of your practical exam you will need to take your client through a full six week training plan.

You must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing RQF or equivalent with the following components:

  • principles of anatomy, physiology and fitness
  • professionalism and customer care for fitness instructors
  • health and safety in the fitness environment
