Mauritius Institute of Education partnership

Mauritius Institute of Education logoSt Mary’s are delighted to be working in collaboration with Mauritius Institute of Education.

Our partnership is founded on a commitment to developing innovative approaches to transnational learning, collaborative research, and fostering and sustaining a collegial community between staff and students across our two institutions.

The three core elements of our partnership are:

  • MA Education - progression for MIE Postgraduate Diploma in Education students on to St Mary’s part-time MA Education programme
  • Doctor of Education (EdD) - progression for MIE MPhil and MRes students and others with comparable prior research experience and qualifications, on to St Mary’s EdD Part 2 programme
  • Research collaboration - current collaborative research projects and published work between St Mary’s and MIE colleagues.

This MA Education is a part-time, online, distance-learning programme designed to meet the needs of Mauritian teachers, leaders, and other educational professionals working in all phases and sectors of education at all stages of their careers, who have previously accrued 90 credits at Level 7 (Level 9 in Mauritius) with the Mauritius Institute of Education within the last five years.

The MIE specific MA Education award titles reflect the four award titles of MIE PGDip Ed:

  • Leadership and Management (L&M)
  • Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LTHE)
  • Mentoring, Coaching and Supervision (MCS)
  • Quality Assurance (QA).

All MA Education students via MIE undertake two modules as part of the MA Education:

  • Research Design (30 credits)
  • Academic Paper and Conference Presentation (60 credits).

The programme begins in September for runs for 12 months.
