LGBTQ+ Inclusion Project

St Mary’s is a Catholic university seeking to develop the whole person and empower our community to have a positive impact on the world. The purpose of the LGBTQ+ Inclusion Project is to enable St Mary’s University to create and promote an inclusive environment for all staff and students, including those who identify as LBGTQ+. Creating and promoting this inclusive environment will be accomplished by undertaking actions to address issues that arose from the Pulse Survey undertaken by University staff in 2023, and undertaking additional work to support the student community.

The project is co-chaired by Rob Johnson (Chair of the LGBTQ+ Staff Network), and Caitlin Finn (SMSU Student Life President). Membership of the group is diverse, with a mix of professional serivces and academic staff, Students' Union (SU) representatives, and SMSU Pride Society representatives.

We have devised a Project Plan which outlines the project's purpose, aims, membership, and a general outlook for the project until July 2025. You can also view the project's Terms of Reference document.
