Work placements

Student placements can help your business grow, for example by delivering a strategic project, by making improvements to your business processes, or by helping you develop new markets. Our Employer Engagement and Placements team will work with you to find a student matched to your needs.

We are committed to providing placements for our students, in order to improve their prospects of employment when they leave St Mary’s. Each placement forms a module that contributes to the student’s degree programme; we are able to offer this service to organisations free of charge. To find out further information, please contact  careers@stmarys.ac.uk or call 020 8240 4055.

St Mary’s internship programme (sponsored by Santander)

St Mary’s University is working in partnership with Santander Universities, to offer an exciting opportunity to SMEs. This opportunity will allow SMEs to benefit from funding and support to recruit student and graduate interns either during the Christmas holidays, Easter break or over the summer.

An intern can bring energy and enthusiasm, as well as fresh ideas to your organisation. It is a great way to identify and harness future talent. Interns undertaking the programme come from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including; business management, sport science, health and nutrition, tourism, psychology, criminology, history, law, geography and social sciences. For more information, please contact  careers@stmarys.ac.uk or call 020 8240 4055.

Career fairs

Sector-specific fairs are a great way to reach many students and graduates in a short space of time. Attracting students and graduates from various backgrounds and disciplines, our career fairs remain a great way to build your organisation’s brand at St Mary’s University. They are also the most effective way to engage with large numbers of students and graduates in a short space of time.

Fairs are generally help from 11am-2pm at our Twickenham campus. Before entering the fair, all attendees have a briefing session with a Careers Consultant to ensure they are well-prepared and equipped to make the most of the fair.

Take a look at our events schedule for this academic year:

Autumn 2018
  • Tuesday 9th October: Part-time work and volunteering fair

*This is a university-wide event, which promotes full-time and part-time work, graduate level work, internships (including summer), volunteering and work experience opportunities.

Networking events

Our Networking Events are informal evenings, designed to facilitate stimulating, in-depth conversations between employers, students and graduates around particular themes or targeted at particular programmes or cohorts.

On-campus recruitment sessions

If you want to make an impact and showcase your organisation and your current vacancies/opportunities, you can hold bespoke activities in high footfall areas on campus. Previous activities that organisations have laid on include popcorn machines, photo booths, and table tennis, as well as simple competitions and games to get students interacting with you. This is an informal, yet great way to meet with passing students.

Please contact  careers@stmarys.ac.uk or call 020 8240 4055 for further information on available dates throughout the semester and how to book a recruitment session.

Sponsorship

Support the next generation of talent whilst building your brand through sponsorship of our events, publications, sport teams or societies. The most effective way to reach our students and graduates, is by advertising through Jobs on CareerConnect, however there are additional ways in which you can raise your company's profile. On an annual basis, we offer sponsorship for:

  • Part-time Work and Volunteering Fair
  • Careers Show

We can also help you get in touch with the relevant sports and societies, if appropriate.

If you are interested in sponsoring any of the following, then please contact  careers@stmarys.ac.uk or call 020 8240 4055 to discuss this further.
