The Level 1 ISAK Anthropometry Course is designed for sport and exercise science students, nutritionists, sports rehabilitators or physiotherapists who need to carry out anthropometric profiling of clients. The course will be delivered by two programme directors here at StMary's univeristy, Dr Nicola Brown and James Flemming.
Dates and times
This course will run on the following dates:
- Friday 31st January - Sunday 2nd February 2020, 9am-5.30pm (finishing at 4pm on the Sunday)
The full cost is £400. The deposit cost is £50.
Whilst enrolled upon the Anthropometry course you will experience both practical and theoretical learning. Theoretical components of the course include topics such as anatomy, body composition and somatotype.
Practical application includes the measurement of a Restricted Profile (height, mass, eight skinfolds, five girths, two breadths) adhering to the standard required by ISAK. You will study how measures enable the monitoring of health and growth variables and calculation of somatotype.
The course is assessed via...
- Demonstration of accurate precision in the assessment of a Restricted Profile. The demonstration will be assessed on intra-tester reliability (how repeatable your own measurements are) and inter-tester reliability (how accurate you are compared with criterion measures).
- Submission of 20 profiles within a four month period.
To enrol on this course you must be 18-years-old or over. It is recommended that learners should have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*-C however exemptions may be made for adult returners with relevant experience.
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive the Level 1 ISAK Anthropometry Course accreditation (valid for 4 years) and ISAK membership.
