Body composition

The BodPod and skinfold assessment are a great way of accurately measuring body fat percentage, lean body mass percentage and give you an estimated basal metabolic rate (BMR) – all of which can help you achieve your body composition goal.

BodPod

The BodPod is an air displacement plethysmograph which uses whole-body desitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass). The system is safe, non-invasive and has excellent test-to-test repeatability. We use it to measure the following metrics:

  • Body fat %
  • Lean mass %
  • Estimated basal metabolic rate (BMR)
  • Total daily energy expenditure.

If you’d like your BodPod assessment to be followed up with a consultation, we can arrange for one of sport and exercise scientists to sit down with you to discuss your results and provide feedback on lifestyle and exercise strategies to help you achieve your body composition goal.

Skinfold assessment

The thickness of seven skinfolds at specific locations on the body are measure using precise callipers. The thickness of these folds is a measure of the subcutaneous adipose tissue (fat beneath the skin).

All skinfold tests are carried out by ISAK-accredited anthropometrics. Your follow up report consists of:

  • Body fat %
  • Lean mass %
  • Sum of seven skinfolds
  • Estimated basal metabolic rate (BMR)
