Michael Foster taught in Taiwan and Japan before joining St Mary's where he is now a Senior Lecturer for English and Applied Linguistics. He graduated summa cum laude in English Literature at Penn State University in the United States, and holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and Education.
He teaches undergraduate courses on the nature of language, American literature, sociolinguistics, the history of English and first language acquisition.
At postgraduate level, Michael teaches courses on language theory. His main research interests are language evolution, language theory and child language acquisition.
