Biography
I am Director of Undergraduate Medicine at St Marys University, developing an MBBS programme aiming to start in September 2026. The course is a five-year undergraduate course rooted in the values of SMU. Our aim is to launch happy, well rounded and compassionate doctors with excitement to care for their patients and community.
I am Professor of Medicine and will contribute to publications and research at St Marys, in the School of Medicine.
I was born in South Africa, and grew up in Sydney, Australia. I moved to Oxford as an Australasian scholar, and continued training in the UK. As a Consultant Neurologist and Epilepsy Lead, I work at the Royal Free Hospital London, with special interests in epilepsy, migraine, Neuro-obstetrics and intellectual disability. I have had leadership roles in the Royal Society of Medicine, Association of British Neurologists, NIHR, International League against Epilepsy, and now Medical Society of London. Education of patients, and health care professionals including doctors is been central to my work.
I love learning new things, tennis, chocolate and travel; and above all spending time with my husband, five children and friends.
