Director of Human Resources

Biography

As Director of Human Resources, Fiona is responsible for leading on the development and delivery of the People Strategy, which puts people – both staff and students – at the heart of the University.

Fiona joined St Mary’s University as Director of Human Resources in May 2019 following 2.5 years at Transport for London as a strategic Head of Human Resources and core member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Fiona was educated at the University of Greenwich and after achieving a BA (Hons) in Education and Training went on to complete a PGCE in post 16 education, followed by a post-graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.  Fiona started her career in Human Resources at Unilever plc and went on to work in a variety of organisations including the City of London Corporation, WWF-UK, Merlin Entertainments, Pearson plc, Surrey County Council and Brooklands College of Further and Higher Education.  Fiona taught on both the Masters and Post-Graduate HR programmes whilst her family were young and remains passionate about developing those progressing through their HR careers.

Fiona was awarded Fellowship to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 1995 and has won numerous industry awards during her career including the PricewaterhouseCoopers UK award for innovation in Human Resources.
