Caroline Corker

Deputy Head of School

Caroline is Deputy Head of the School of Education, Theology and Leadership at St Mary's. She is also Senior Lecturer and Programme Convener in Primary Art and Design Education at St Mary’s. She works with both Primary Undergraduate and PGCE ITE students. 

She has an infectious enthusiasm for art education and encourages her students to discover their creative and pedagogic potential through the exploration and experimentation of art media and processes. 

She was short listed for the St Vincent De Paul Inclusivity prize (2010) for her work on designing and facilitating community art projects. Caroline was awarded the Horace Walpole award for innovative teaching and learning (2011) for her work in developing CPD opportunities for students and teachers through the initiation of art projects in primary schools.

Caroline has a wealth of experience in teaching all phases of education. She was one of the first primary Advanced Skills Teachers before becoming Head of Art in a large comprehensive school. She continues to work with primary schools on new initiatives and curriculum changes in art education.

She has recently completed her MA in Art, Craft and Design Education with a distinction. She is continuing her research interest by undertaking a Professional Doctorate in curriculum design and artistic vision.
