Syreeta Charles-Cole is Senior Lecturer of Primary Mathematics at St Mary's University. She teaches on the PGCE, BA, and Master's courses.
Having been employed in education for over 15 years she has taught in both primary and secondary schools, holding SLT and consultancy positions. She was part of the research team for 'Nurturing Mathematical Promise’ project at Brunel University.
Syreeta has extensive experience working within Higher Education, holding responsibility for the organisation, delivery and development of the BA Hons Degree in Education & BA Hons Degree in Early Years Education.
She is particularly interested the creative use of resources and assessment to enable children to enjoy, engage in, and make progress in mathematics.
Syreeta is currently completing a Doctoral Degree at UCL Institute of Education under the supervision of Dr Melissa Rodd and Dr Cathy Smith researching the topic of mathematical manipulatives. The aim of this research is to explore children’s views towards the use of concrete and virtual manipulatives.
